Doug would be proud

I fixed my Volvo for $12.90, a little elbow grease, and the great over the phone diagnostic skills of Brittney's brother Jake (Doug Jr.). It had a transmission fluid leak, that I thought was a power steering leak, a little tightening of some hoses a quart of tranny fluid and some power steering additive and the "hearse" runs like new. Thanks Jake.
Here is me a few days ago doing some serious surgery recovery, dreaming of fairways and greens. The knee is getting better everyday, I visited the physical therapist today, he removed my stitches, hope to be golfing and back to full strength by march at the latest.
The amazing Ella making a castle out of her toys. Ella quote of the day "Mommy you wouldn't fit through a small door." Brittney was thrilled to hear that.
Less than a month away and we still do not have a name for the new baby. If anyone has a great girls name Brittney has $20 for a winning name. post names to comments

80 foot pole

Brittney had a close call today with an Alabama power truck and an 80 foot pole sticking out the back of it. Thankfully no one was injured and the speeds were not great enough for it to be a disaster. Now we will need to have it replaced, although Brittney said the officer told her it was fine to drive. ????? got to wonder about Alabama's vehicle laws. It gave us a scare because Brittney had a friend killed by a poll through a car.

Knee recovery is coming along, it ached all day.

Surgery Update

Here is the knee. I went for my one day post op. today and all is well, no pain, just a little stiffness. The doc told me what they found. Under my knee cap there was some damaged, soft cartilage that they removed and my miniscus was a little frayed so they cleaned it up. Not an excessive amount of damage but enough that it could have been causing the pain. A few weeks of recovery and we will see if it did the trick. Notice the "correct" above my knee, I'm glad they got it right.

Here are some photos they gave me of the inside of my knee and the probe poking into the soft cartilage and scraping it away.

I finally found a good use for my trainer, surgery recovery.

I pulled it out of the attic and dusted it off for a little post op. recovery, works like a charm.

Up next for surgery, Ella after her backside 720 tailwhip off the bed goes south.

Influenza took me out

I was living my happy life until 3:00am Thursday morning when influenza came knocking at my door to pick a fight with me. To make a long painful story short, she cleaned my clock and it was not pretty. I think I have finally made a full recovery now just in time to be knocked down again on Wednesday by the knee surgeon and his knife. Hopefully I will make a quick recovery from that one too.

I finished up midterm exams today so I will have some breathing room for the next couple of weeks.

I will try to drum up some excitement over the next few days so I have something to write about.

Her cocoa rests on her belly

She tells me "you have not updated your blog in awhile" as her cocoa rests on her belly. I respond, "because my life has been borafill lately."

Yeah borafill, as far as blog material goes, no exciting golf rounds, bike adventures, or lizards. Just gluacoma, geriatrics, and myopia, exciting for me but boring for the rest of the world.

Trying to sell our piano on craigs list and some idiot is trying to clean her dirty money. What she doesn't know is that like dwight from the office, i'm a volunteer crime fighter and can spot a scam from a mile away. Only takes one $100 computer that never shows up to plant the scam fighting passion.

I did find the coolest website in the world it is even better than my

78 degrees in January is sweet

78 degrees here in B'ham this weekend, record highs and I am loving it.Perfect weather to work on the game. Ella and her good friend Adam working on their game with their amazing swing coach. (that would be me) I am in a dangerous spot for photo taking, there were a few close calls.

Nice follow through and hip rotation Ella, LPGA tour is right around the corner.
Notice the front yard tee box/chipping area all my neighbors are jealous of my green grass that I have to mow once a week. I am pretty proud of it, puts a smile on my face every time I look at it.
I put a set of sweet clubs up for sale on ebay, check it out here. TaylorMade TP set, MB irons, R5 tp driver, and rescue mid tp hybrid. I am sad to see them go but i must clear them out so we can get an elliptical trainer for Brit.

Knee Surgery Scheduled January 24th

This will be me in a few weeks, under the knife and out of control. After 10 years of knee pain I hope to be knee pain free so I can get back to breaking 80, biking, walking, and running without pain. I did not know it was so easy to get knee surgery, 5 minutes with the doc, twisting my knee around a few times and we were scheduling the surgery. I have paid $5000 a year for the past 3 year for insurance and now I am cashing in, $100 copay and I am set. wish me luck.

I got hot golfing today

No my game did not get hot, my temperature was hot. 70 degrees in Jan. is great. My golf game was pretty lousy, my knee hurt really bad, and I have a heel that started hurting a few days ago, and the fairways were like a muddy pasture. I paid for 18 holes but threw in the towel at nine because it was sick of slinging mud around and I missed Brittney and Ella. I tried a new course today and I thought "country clubs" were supposed to be the cream on the crop, but I must have forgotten that things are a little different in podunk Alabama.

Every time I return to Alabama after being in Utah, I am pretty worthless for awhile. I think the past week has been the most unproductive week of my life, I did not even post on the blog. I am kind of coming out of it today, I did a bunch of junk around the house like put away christmas decor in the attic, washed brittney's car with Ella and even mustered up the strength to go to Walmart

If it weren't for good friends like Todd and Gina to have me over every night for dinner I probably would have starved to death because I couldn't get myself to go to walmart, all I could do was buy a $5 gallon of 2% milk at the gas station. I hate 2%, I need skim. but come to think of it, I did golf 3 times this week. hmmm, I've got problems.
