Fox

I found a golf course that is open, westpoint golf course at slc airport. Roger and I made a quick trip there yesterday for a round of 18. It was really fun, the greens were frozen so a great shot bounced off the green, but what do you expect for Utah in December. I played much better than my score reflected, 84.

Where do you think my skills came from? Rog, he shot a 102 and only plays once every few years. Here he is in action attacking the approach shot.
On the 10th hole a fox came to check us out, It came within 3 feet of me so I fed it my granola bar, he followed us down the hole and I gave it some more granola. We couldn't believe it.

If you are looking for a really great snow ride in Utah county, check out rock canyon. I rode up there today and the conditions are great, you better go quick because if it warms up, heavy traffic usually turns it into a bob sled run.
My creative photographer side came out so I snapped a few photos of the pretty canyon.

I'm out of the freezer tomorrow and headed back home to the heater, 60 degree temps will be nice. Utah is well worth the cold though, less than a year and we will be back for good.

Christmas fun

We all had a great Christmas.
Ella got a new doll house from grandma Anne and grandpa Doug. Grandpa doug showed Ella how the dolls like to jump out of the window.

Rum tum tum tum, Ella and cousin Cole in the marching band.
Can She fix it? Yes she can. Ella fixing stuff with uncle Matt, be sure to always were eye protection.
The totally d.i. christmas from grandma Janie, It is amazing what she finds at that place.
Ella and cousin Heather shreading the sleeding hill.

My Christmas present from Brittney, a fancy new compaq presario v6000 notebook. Her gift beat the heck out of the Saucony trail running shoes I got her. Thanks Brit.
I am looking for a golf course to play at before I leave on Sunday, the chances look pretty slim unless I head down south to St. George. If anyone knows of one that is open in northern Utah let me know.

Snow Machine

The great thing about Utah is that I do not need to bring a bike because they are in abundance here. Today I went for a snow ride with my dad, Bart, and Bryan, it was like good old times other than me trying to push the pace, I was dangling at the rear. We rode up provo canyon and hit some of the trails, it was good time. I used karin's (Brittney sister) Trek fuel 90, I call it the snow machine, it rips the trails.

18 degree cruise through christmas chaos

I watched about 4 hours of golf channel today and played around the house with Ella. We even made it outside a few times to play in the snow, Ella made snow golf balls for me to hit with my new irons. (taylorMade rac lt2 true temper sensicore s3oo shaft)

While Ella took a nap I took the schwinn cruiser out to run some errands in the freezing cold, I hit the bank, Doug's Auto to check out Doug's new Shelby GT 500, Toys r' us to find a violin for Ella and I would have stopped by Uinta golf but i think my toes were turning black. It was chaos out there but kind of fun ripping through the grid lock traffic on the schwinn

If the temps break 30 I will be happy

The has not been over 28 degrees since I have arrived in Utah. brrrr.

The snow and cold has put a damper on golf, but I went on a bike ride today with my dad and I about froze to death, it was 21 degrees. It was the most miserable bike ride I can remember, but still fun.

Ella is having fun in the Snow. Yesterday we rode trax to temple square to see the lights wth my brother and his family, it was fun but cold.

Lumpy Fairways

I decided to get back to my roots and go to one of the golf course that got me hooked on golf. Percy Marcum. This is the best hole at the course, partial island green at 165 yards. The course is pretty rough, the greens and fairways are dormant, no overseeding here. The fairways are lumpy and have you ever tried putting on a dormant green? It is a step up from dirt golf and for $13 what do you expect?
Here is a green, or is it a brown? my back yard looks better than this. I swore off this course a year ago and said I would never go back, I'm a sucker. Despite the conditions, I had a good time and can't complain about 75 degrees in December. I am headed to Utah in the morning, I am asking myself why doesn't eveybody just come here for christmas, its 75 degrees, we could bike and golf in shorts.

Ebay Power Seller

I reached Power Seller status on ebay today, what that means? I've sold over $1000 worth of stuff each month for the past 3 months, what I get out of it? the same exorborant listing and seller fees, and a power seller label next to my feed back number. yippie.

I rode my bike today in shorts. I have not been able to get out as much as I would like because of the time change, but I can't complain about shorts in Dec.

I bought a set of TaylorMade LT irons today, I am going to sell the MB irons and go back to the LT's, they are a little easier to hit.

I got a referral to go to the Orthopedic surgeon for my knee, now I am just waiting for the appointment.

html is for nerds

I've been putting a lot of time into my new blog "in the bag" trying to figure out html code and such, more or less I am trying to become a computer geek, but it will never happen, I am not smart enough. After spending many hours on attempting to transfer my handicap index to my new blog in html or java format, I had a great idea, just take a picture of my computer screen and download it to the blog. It worked like a charm and only took me 2 minutes, wish I would have come up with that 4 hours ago.

Since it is dark when I get home from school now and can not get out and ride my bike, and I refuse to use a stationary trainer, I have become a walker. I walked the neighborhood tonight, another reason my neighbors think I am crazy, "Why is the spandex wearing, winter green grass growing, golfing fool, out walking the neighborhood alone in the dark?" I think this is what I heard a few of them say. I wish Brittney and Ella were here so I had some walking partners.

I tried to go the the doctor today to get a referral to the Orthopedic surgeon, but was unsuccessful. When I arrived for my appointment, they told me the doctor I was scheduled to see had something come up and I had to reschedule, I asked to see another doctor just to give me a referral but they gave me the run around bs story about insurance blaa, blaa, so I am going back tomorrow. I rarely get mad, but this one ticked me off, just because I knew they were full of it. Jumping through hoops and dealing with insurance companies is lame. I am going to be dealing with it for the rest of my life, and I imaging it is only going to get worse trying to collect my fees from them. I better get used to it or I wont be able to put bread on the table. I will keep you posted.

what do you think about at church?

Last night I went to a christmas party with some of my friends from school and took this sweet skate board as my gift for the present trading game. Todd lucked out and ended up with the board, I will expect him to be doing kick flips by next week, I ended up with a sweet gerber pocket knife, watch out I am now carrying a weapon.

As I was sitting in church today I was thinking about all the golf clubs I have played with over the past year and half, and I made a list: 14 drivers, 10 iron sets, 3 fairway woods, 8 wedges, 3 putters, 5 hybrids. Some say it is an addiction, I would have to agree with them. I will post a list on clubsinthebag.blogspot.com by the end of the week it will probably be 11 irons sets.

Yesterday I took a couple of boy scouts working on their golf merit badge to the course for 9 holes, it was a good time they didn't break anything.

Brittney and Ella have been in Utah for a few days now and I mis them, one more week and I will join them in paradise.

I had the day off school, so I went golfing, shot and 81. I have tommorrow off as well so I am going golfing again.

Christmas Parade?

Has anyone ever heard of a Christmas parade? I surely had not until today but then again I grew up in the county. Here are a couple of highlights or maybe lowlights of an Alabama Christmas Parade.
First of all if you are going to attend any Mass gathering here in Alabama, be prepared to get choked out by cheap cigarette second hand smoke, even if it is an event for children. chh chh chh...

Second, watch out for the guy with the handlebar mustache he will knock over your kids to get to the candy first.

Third, If the float is throwing out snickers, watch out, Gina is quicker than mustache man.

Fourth, A hot tub float with halter top girl feels a little out of place for a family gathering, but what the heck, its Christmas

Fifth, wear a coat, Its December and be ready to have some good old fashion fun!

The Temps went from 80 to 40 overnight. We almost got taken out by a few tornado's the other night and I guess it blew in the cold weather, probably won't last long, its Alabama after all.

I played some golf today, shot an 83. I've finally got a complete club set that I am satisfied with, hopefully I can learn how they play and drop back into the 70's again. I am going to add a new link to my blog called "in the bag" it will be a description and photos of my latest and greatest sticks. coming soon, stay posted.

This just in from ABC 33/40: kid fell off float and ran over by tractor and he was taken children's hospital.

mess machine, no no not Brittney

Ella loves to make a good mess, outside inside, it does not matter.

I bought this shaft puller the other day and it works like a charm. I am thinking about giving up on school and opening a bike/golf shop in the garage, I think Brittney will be thrilled.

I take back a few things about what I have said about Alabama, the weather lately has made up for a lot. 70's in December is really nice.

I've been dealing with knee pain for a long time and it is getting worse and starting to interfere with the golf game and such, so I am working on going under the knife and getting it fixed. I'll post the latest updates as they come.

My golf clubs sales paid the mortgage this month, and Brittney says ebay stinks.

She's got talent, and Todd too.

Ella never ceases to amaze us. She really stacked these chips by herself.
You know who your real friends are when they save their kids baby food jars for months and make you a fancy Christmas tree that lights up and everything. Brittney had mentioned to Gina how funny she thinks the baby food jar creations are so She and Todd saved their jars for months and made this sweet creation for our mantle. Thanks guys.

The temps were pushing 80 today, the golf course was packed today and it got dark before I was able to finish my round. I got a sweet new club, a Jack Nicklaus mv-20 signature series 3 wood from the set you buy at costco. I traded Todd a TaylorMade sand wedge for it and it is a sweet club.

Christmas in November?

For some reason we are getting an early start on Christmas this year, maybe because we will be in Utah most of December and we want to experience some of the festivities at our home. Unlikely, Brittney and Ella just like opening presents. Ella tearing into her new PJs.
I actually made it out for a bike ride on Friday and got a good picture of this colorful tree. Most of the leaves have already turned, but there are a few stragglers like this one. Alabama has a few good characteristics, it can be beautiful at times, especially in the fall.

Sunsets here are usually pretty nice too, I took this from my back porch.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest day of the year, high of 47, Should be a good day for golf. 47 in Alabama feels more like 35 in Utah, humidity cuts you to the core. burrr.

Ross Bridge

What a course! A word of advice though, don't play a 8000 yard course with clubs you have never played with before. Scores were not the best but it was still a good time and beautiful.

225 yard par 3 with an island green, I stuck the green with my trusty Taylormade rescue mid, only club in my bag that was not brand new. 185 yard par 3, hit it 15 feet from the pin with my 5 iron.
Just one of the greens.
Bunker protected green on a par 5.
It was a great course but not my favorite by a long shot, the $100 green fee might be the reason, when I can play courses almost as nice for $17. But I can now say I have played at Ross Bridge.
